Pride Circle’s story began when Srini and Ram met at a Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) conference in 2013. Srini led Human Resources and D&I at a financial software company and Ram led an LGBT Employee Resource Group (ERG) at a big technology corporation.
At first, they collaborated on projects to help other organizations, become more welcoming places for
lesbian, gay,
bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBT+) employees. Soon they realised, the only D&I reference
points in India
were best practices from the West.
To encourage greater representation and participation for
LGBT+ employees
in corporate India, meant more personalised and sustained action, so they quit their 9 to 5 jobs and
set up Pride
Circle in 2017.
For Srini and Ram, the lack of an ‘Indian’ D&I approach and experience, is both a business opportunity as well as service to society: contributing to social change.
